what to expect and what to bring

First Visit

Prior to Treatment: Try not to drink any caffeinated drink prior to acupuncture treatment. Caffeine could affect the pain relieving function of acupuncture

What should I wear? Dress comfortably or bring a change of clothes for acupuncture. We suggest loose clothing that easily raises up to the knee and elbow. If you have discomfort in the neck/shoulder, you could wear a cami/tank top.

How long does it take? First visit may take up to an hour including acupuncture treatment. Follow-up session could varies between 20-40 minutes depending on your body.

What happens? You will be greeted and guided to a treatment room.  For a typical acupuncture treatment, you may be instructed to sit, lay facing down or facing up during treatment while a few needles be inserted to specific body parts. The numbers of needles could vary from 5-25 needles to address the imbalances in the body.

What to do after treatment? Drink a cup of water and try not to do any heavy lifting or intense work-outs. We also recommend not to shower within 1-2 hours.

How many treatments do I need? This varies depending on your health goals, condition and your body. 1-cycle of treatment is usually about 4-6 sessions. For chronic cases, on-going treatment for more than a year may be necessary. Some acute cases could be resolves within 2-3 treatments.
